Alaska shines with Celebrity in 2010
20-April-2009

From May through September of next year, Celebrity Cruises will offer a series of seven-night itineraries aboard three of its ships in Alaska.

Paired with a fully escorted land tour, these cruises offer travellers an even greater opportunity to explore one of America’s most majestic landscapes. Celebrity has opened its 2010 Alaska bookings and travellers purchasing a cruise by June 17 will be eligible for an onboard credit of US$100 per stateroom.

Throughout the 2010 Alaska season, Celebrity Infinity, Celebrity Mercury and Celebrity Millennium will offer a total of 58 Alaska sailings from six home ports -- San Francisco, San Diego, Los Angeles, Seattle, Seward and Vancouver.

After sailing one 11-night “Ultimate Alaska” cruise from San Francisco to Vancouver, departing on May 10, 2010 and offering a port line-up that includes Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, Icy Strait Point and Sitka, Alaska, Celebrity Infinity will offer 18 consecutive seven-night “Alaska Tracy Arm Fjord” cruises departing on Fridays and sailing roundtrip from Seattle, Washington.

New to Celebrity’s offerings in Alaska, these seven-night voyages are named for the 51-km-long passage the ship will make through the narrow Tracy Arm Fjord. At the end of the fjord is Sawyer Glacier, the face of which is 60 metres high. Infinity’s seven-night itinerary also includes visits to Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway and Victoria, as well as a cruise through the Alaska Inside Passage.

RCI unveils Allure itinerary

Royal Caribbean International has unveiled details of the inaugural season of Allure of the Seas -- 42 sailings to the Eastern and Western Caribbean on seven-night voyages every Sunday beginning Dec. 12, 2010.

Allure of the Seas and sister-ship Oasis of the Seas constitute the Oasis class of ships and will be the world’s two largest when they debut in November 2010 and 2009, respectively.

With the arrival of Allure of the Seas, travellers will have a choice of a Saturday (Oasis of the Seas) and Sunday departure for an Oasis-class cruise vacation. Bookings for Allure of the Seas’ inaugural season open on April 13.

Allure of the Seas will depart from its homeport of Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale and alternate a seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itinerary. Both itineraries will feature three days at sea to allow guests to enjoy all the revolutionary onboard amenities found in the seven “neighbourhoods” that comprise an Oasis-class ship.

On the Eastern Caribbean itinerary, Allure of the Seas will call at St. Thomas (Charlotte Amalie), St. Maarten (Philipsburg), and Nassau, Bahamas. The ship will call at Falmouth, Jamaica; Cozumel, Mexico; and Labadee, Royal Caribbean’s private beach paradise on the northern coast of Haiti, for the Western Caribbean itinerary.

Sensation renovation complete

A water park, pool, and an adults-only retreat are just some of the upgrades that have been added to the Carnival Sensation following a multimillion dollar renovation.

As part of Carnival’s “Evolution for Fun” refurbishment program, 98 new balconies have also been added to existing ocean-view rooms and tweens aged 12-14 years old now have their own recreational room on the ship, the “Circle C” facility.

The ship has resumed its year-round three- and four-day Bahamas cruise program from Port Canaveral, Florida.
