Belizean hotel company Belize Vacation Partners has covered all the bases when it comes to catering to those wanting to vacation in the Central American country, offering tourists options that range from ocean to urban to jungle-shrouded interior.

Company hotels are the Belize Biltmore Plaza Hotel, found in Belize City and the only Best Western in the country; the Hidden Valley Inn in Belmopan; and the Sunbreeze Hotel and Sunbreeze Suites, both found on the island of Ambergris Caye, which provides a relaxed atmosphere for the sun-seeking and water sports crowds.

“Our major selling point for Belize has been the diving and the snorkeling. We have the second-longest barrier reef in the world,” says Teodoro Tejada, sales manager at the Belize Biltmore Plaza.

But Tejada notes that Belize is equally at home in catering to the nature-loving set, with tracts of protected land including the world’s only sanctuary created specifically for jaguars.

Interior Belize is home to mountains, rain forests and Maya archeological sites that tourists can visit, and wildlife enthusiasts – particularly bird-watchers – will be in their element.

“For nature-lovers and bird-lovers it’s paradise,” says Tejada of a country that has some 500 species of birds and a mammal population that includes jaguars, monkeys, tapirs and a host of other exotic creatures.

Belize also has made inroads in the adventure travel market, offering visitors the likes of cave exploration, ziplines, ATV tours and more.

Tejada suggests that visitors consider dividing their vacation between mainland Belize and Ambergris Caye.

Meanwhile, Tejada notes that Belize Vacation Partners properties differ markedly, with the Belize Biltmore Plaza primarily being a corporate hotel, where guests will find the likes of wireless Internet.

The other properties largely see leisure travellers and those who enjoy plenty of elbow room while in a hotel might consider the Sunbreeze Suites, which has oceanfront suites with equipped kitchens and living and dining room areas. Also available are a tour desk and a dive operator.
